This quite a common phenomenon ‘bloating’ can be a cause of great distress; with symptoms like stomach cramps, flatulence/gas, general discomfort….

Bloating is not just a beauty/aesthetics concern, it can be a sign of an underlying medical condition.

Bloating can be caused my conditions like; food intolerance, irritable bowel syndrome, and some other conditions largely digestive-related. This can also be caused by non-medical conditions, like lifestyle; drinking alcohol, not drinking enough water, poor bowel habits, chewing gum often, eating too fast…

In today’s article I’ll be sharing two quick home remedies for bloating, all ingredients required are probably in the fridge and pantry already.


Before we get into the recipes take note;

If your bloating is due to something you ate or drank or to hormone fluctuations, it should begin to ease within a few hours to days. If you are constipated, it won’t go down until you start pooping. Water, exercise and herbal teas can help encourage all of these things along.

Recipe 1; Ginger black tea

This a drink I tried in university to get rid of bloating before I hit that cute dress the next day lol, cheap and easy.


  1. Black tea
  2. Some sliced or grated ginger
  3. Sugar

The process is simple brew your black tea with the ginger, add some sugar and enjoy. I used to add the sugar back then just for a bit of sweetness, till I read about the diuretic action of sugary drinks.


Recipe 2; Idol water

This easy drink has a reputation with extreme dieting just because of how effective it is, but it’s here because by itself it can solve bloating and puffiness. It is quite popular in the k-beauty sphere and all ingredients are pretty handy as well.


  1. Green tea
  2. Lemon
  3. Sugar
  4. Water

The process is easy brew some green tea, pour into a bottle of water, add some lemon juice and lemon slices, and finally some sugar. Drink this through the day.

Bonus tip; have some Ceylon tea handy, a warm cup of Ceylon tea works wonders.


Notes: since bloating can be caused by various reasons and in situations where it is recurring; if it isn’t caused by your lifestyle it could be a sign of a more serious underlying illness. It is best to seek medical attention and get the to root cause and deal with it appropriately.

Other items for home remedies could include different herbal teas, turmeric, peppermint oil… etc.
