Organizers

The Rotary foundation is organized as a public charity, operated exclusively for charitable purposes and governed by a Board of trustees. The operation of Rotary International, a member organization, are overseen by it’s Board of Directors. Rotary Foundation has been functional for 110 years and has offered 350,000 scholarships. Yearly $7.5 million on average is spent on scholarships by the Rotary Foundation to develop leaders and support their objectives.

The headquarters of Rotary International and the Rotary Foundation are in Evanston, Illinois, USA. They have associate foundations in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Japan and the United Kingdom.

Funding

The minimum budget for a global grant scholarship is $30,000 which can fund the following: Passport/Visa, Inoculations, Travel expenses(As specified in the grant terms and conditions), school supplies, tuition, room and board, Household supplies, language training courses(but has an exception if university admission is dependent on improvement of language skills). Most personal and miscellaneous expenses are not covered by the scholarship funding.

Eligibility

The Rotary Foundation and club invests in the future leaders and philanthropists by funding scholarships for graduate and undergraduate study. They offer basically two types of scholarships:

  • Rotary club: They offer scholarships for secondary, undergraduate and graduate study. Scholarships in this category are given by individual clubs and are open to anyone except Rotary members and their families. Click here to find a local rotary club.
  • The Rotary Foundation: They offer scholarships for college graduates and professionals to study peace and conflict resolution. Rotary peace fellowship are available to candidates who want to participate in a master’s degree or certificate program at one of their six partner university. Institution

Any approved University located in a country where there is a host Rotary club or district, outside of the applicant’s home country.

Requirement

For your application to be approved, your application must clearly describe how your project, scholarship, or vocational training team:

  • Is sustainable (includes plans for long term success after the global grant funds have been spent).
  • Includes measurable goals.
  • Aligns with one of Rotary’s area of focus.
  • Responds to real community needs.
  • Actively involves Rotarians and community members.
  • Meets the eligibility requirement in the grants terms and conditions.

Application Period

Applications are accepted throughout the year and they are reviewed as they are received.

Application Process

All aspirants must possess:

  • An application for the Rotary Foundation Scholarship Global Grant.
  • Proof of admission in a university graduate level program or a letter of invitation for conducting postgraduate level research in  their application.

Applicants must be open to receive education in a foreign country and all applications regarding travel for vocational training teams, scholars and volunteer travelers must be submitted 90 days before the set travel date.
