Meta Chief – Mark Zuckerberg Announces Update that Could Make WhatsApp More Like Facebook

Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg announced a major update to WhatsApp messenger. In his statement on Monday, April 11, he described the update as one that could change the texting App for better with the feature of WhatsApp communities.

The WhatsApp Communities, the App is gradually leaning towards a private social Net work where groups with related purpose are brought under one community. The Communities are only the headline of the soon to be expected update as other new functions that would be added to the changelog would be:

  • Message reactions
  • Large file sharing
  • 32-person group calls
  • Silently leaving groups
  • Bigger group capacities
  • Admins can delete messages for everyone in a group

This announcement by the Facebook Co-founder is a very exciting, especially to fans and ardent users of WhatsApp, as it would make it very easy for more business to be transacted and better managed on the most used texting App in the world.

Mark Zuckerberg through a Facebook post, announced: “With a focus on privacy, safety and security, we’ve added video chats, voice messages, stories, commerce, payments and more to WhatsApp and Messenger.

“With today’s launch, we’re taking this further and enabling people to not only communicate with close friends and contacts, but also with all of the different communities in your life.”

For quite a while, users have greatly criticized WhatsApp due to its numerous restrictions towards large community activities, in a bid to maintain security and end-to-end encryption, some of the critics of WhatsApp take to Telegram for large community activities which Telegram offers in great style, though with lower user data security.
